我喜欢并熟悉这些“声光电”的综合材料,所以我对这些科技材料与其产品所产生的话题比较敏感,比如互联网时代的智能手机、电脑等智能产品,它们的确是个很好的工具,为什么又会有“低头族”和“网瘾”这一说法呢?是我们在操作工具,还是机器在超控我们?所以我运用传统造型的塑造方式创作了一组被机械、程序控制的“手”,警醒人们不能被现代工业驯化成为无自主意识的工具,作品以诙谐的方式希望可以引发人们对当代社会人与物的反思。Elaboration: I am intrigued and familiar with these integrated materials of “sound, light and electricity”, so I am sensitive to the topics generated from these technological materials and their products. For example, intelligent electronic products in the internet era like smart phones and computers are indeed very useful tools, but why there are sayings like “phubbers” and “internet addiction”? Do we manipulate tools or in reverse? Therefore, using the tradition modeling methods and getting inspiration from traditional Chinese sculpture figures, I create a set of “hands” which is controlled by machines and programs to remind us that we cannot be domesticated to be tools without independent consciousness by modern industry. This work is created in an ironical way with the hope to arouse our reflection on humans and things in modern society.

导师评语:简柏榕同用中国传统造像的雕塑方式,通过不断地材料实验、机械实验和工程实验创作了一组被机械、程序控制的、动态的“手”,警醒人们不能被现代工业驯化为无自主意识的工具,作品以诙谐的方式引发当代社会人与物的反思。作品以当代社会“人”的存在状态为背景展开思考与质疑,具有较强的公共性,并且艺术效果与展览呈现较为完整。Supervisor’s comments: By using the sculpting way of traditional Chinese figures and after continuous experiments of materials, machines and engineering, Jian Borong creates a set of dynamic “hands” which are controlled by machines and programs to remind us that we cannot be domesticated to be tools without independent consciousness by modern industry. Created in an ironical way, this work makes people reflect on humans and things in modern society. Critically reflecting and questioning on the existing state of “humans” in modern society, the work, with relatively strong public character, presents relatively intact effects of art and exhibition.
