在2023年4月20日下午，象美术馆主办，抬山·象美术馆艺术会所承办的“缠绕的迷宫：白云近作展”隆重开幕。这次展览由策展人闫城和学术主持黄效融共同努力，展示了艺术家白云近期的作品。

现场观众可以看到白云在这批作品中 abandon her previous straightforward style, incorporating metaphor, allegory, irony, and fables into her paintings. She attempts to completely overturn her past understanding of art through a reconstruction method that expands the scope of images and deepens their interpretation. Additionally, she draws upon Chinese historical allusions, dramatic scenes from history plays and myths stories in gardens and architecture.

According to academic host 黄效融 , White Cloud's change in artistic concept is a long-planned move. "The artist's reshaping of the image of painting is a significant value breakthrough." In his view, White Cloud's inner turmoil reflects her ambition: classical storytelling has not become outdated; when these recognitions are excavated and transformed into more intuitive paintings, new perspectives and aesthetics can be combined to bring surprises—a beautiful, high-level dreamlike art.

White Cloud does not aim to recreate history but rather wants certain fragments embedded in the present day to resonate with people today. This resonance appears pleasant but contains sadness and satire.

As discussed by curator 闫城 , White Cloud is an extremely sensitive artist who accurately captures language, imagery, color elements. The exhibition divides White Cloud's works into three stages: "the blooming period" (2009-2011), "the flower maze period" (2011-2018), and "the secret realm period" (2019-2022). In each stage, the themes have evolved dramatically.

Mentioning this batch of new works by White Cloud as "surprising," 闫城 notes that none of these artworks directly represent real-life subjects; instead they are self-created forms based on artistic rules under the artist's independent creation. Through years of artistic exploration,"taking symbols," "choosing symbols," or "creating symbols" pushes her own art forward to a new level.

Artist 白云 states that she seeks out personal drawing pleasure within secret realms while exploring human sensitivity through painting as a means for spiritual freedom.
