Yang Peili's solo exhibition "Unintentional Presentation" opened at the No. 3 Hall of Today Art Museum on May 15, 2021. This exhibition is Yang Peili's first contemporary art solo show, featuring his representative works created over the past twenty years.

As an artist with extensive calligraphy experience, Yang Peili uses water and paper as his primary materials. Through folding, binding, rolling, and printing techniques, he continuously explores the potential of these traditional media. His actions are simple yet profound; each action gives birth to a visual series that forms the main units of "Non-Symmetry," "Non-Repetition," "Non-Form," and "Non-Surface."

The artworks are large in scale and rich in detail; different series present various forms, colors, and line aesthetics while maintaining a unified core creative concept – unintentional presentation. During creation process, Yang Peili rejects accumulated experiences from before; he starts from nothingness (non-being) to beingness (being). He does not set up expectations for final presentations but allows inner intention ("i") to synchronize with objective form ("o") through human-nature collaboration.

The exhibition starts with artworks created by Yang Peili within the past two years - Soaked Ink - followed by tracing back to Paper Pulp in 2013 which serves as farewell and reminiscence towards early formalism exploration. This piece was caused by Typhoon Fung-Wong symbolizing natural time coalescence.

According to curator Xu Bochen this event offers an interesting case study for everyone involved in it. Over more than two decades of silent exploration beyond forms alone lies Yang Peili's emphasis on presenting ideas through art language creativity without limits or extremity aiming at true reality alongside its omnipresence within all aspects.

This ongoing exhibition continues until May 30th offering visitors a profound spiritual journey during this period reflecting upon whether we can find quiet moments amidst fast-paced life where we can converse inwardly?
